The Creamery Inchigeela where Lee Valley Ireland began!
When Lee Valley Ireland was first established in 1986 it was called Lee Valley Shirt Company and Denis Hurley's cottage based industry hand making Grandfather shirts were made in an old unused creamery. He bought the creamery and the site in front of it.
He built his family home on the site and operated his business out of the creamery seen in the old photograph below.
In 1996 he knocked the creamery and built a purpose built factory behind it.
This Lee Valley Ireland factory, his family home and garden is what you can now see there. There are also houses lining this street where as in the ph otograph all that existed at the time where briers and bushes.
This photograph is fantastic because it shows when the creamery was used for delivering milk to the local parish.
