How We're Social Distancing in the Lee Valley

As we come to the end of our second week of the Covid 19 Lockdown here in Ireland, we are getting used to life confined to our homes.
Like many others all over the world, we are doing our best to stay connected and stay busy while keeping apart.
With that in mind, we would like to share how we're social distancing in the
Lee Valley with some positive, interesting and entertaining activities, and
perhaps give you a few ideas of your own..

As we take some time out, now is a great opportunity to tackle some gardening tasks.  Reconnecting with
nature and getting outdoors, engaging in some
therapeutic and rewarding hard work while cocooning.
We are very much looking forward to getting back into
our beautiful gardens for Spring time and plant some
beautiful blooms.

Reading at home (wearing our Flannel Pyjamas in Blarney Stone)

Lockdown is the perfect excuse to delve into the pile of books
you've been meaning to read.  At Lee Valley we are excited to get reacquainted with some of
our old favorites like James Joyce and Oscar Wilde and some new books
from Irish authors like Marian Keyes and Roddy Doyle.
Relaxing in front of an open fire in our cosy Sleepwear with our next page turner.

Cooking Our Favorites

As we find ourselves spending more time at home, we are compelled to
spend some time cooking up our culinary favorites.  So dig out your
cookbooks, fill up your pantry and try one of our local dishes
featuring Lee Valley's most famous fish,
the Salmon.  Find the full recipe Here

Exploring our Local Area

 Inchigeela Island Sunset
Walking in the Lee Valley (River Island, Inchigeela, Co.Cork)

There is no better time to get out and about to explore our local area.  In
Ireland during Lockdown we are to adhere to a 2km radius boundary
from our home while taking exercise.  What many are discovering
is there are truly some amazing sights
to see so close to home.  The above photo is from
our short trip in Inchigeela (taken by our own
Shane Hurley) over looking the river at
It is truly a beautiful part of the Lee Valley.

Fishing in the River Lee (wearing our Vintage Grandfather shirt VR17)

Fishing is one of our favorite pastimes in the Lee Valley and
we are lucky to be surrounded by many clean and beautiful lakes
and rivers.  As our fishing season here is from February to September
it is the perfect time to grab our rod and venture out for
a day at the local lake.
One of the most common fish to be found in these
waters are the Lee Valley Salmon, also part of our famous logo.

Catching up with Friends

stay connected

Catching up with friends digitally (wearing our touchscreen gloves)

As platforms like Zoom, Whatsapp and Facebook become more integrated
into our lives, they have become a vital way to keep in touch
with friends during this time.
Traditional letters and post cards have also become more common
here in Ireland, even our national postal service has
generously gifted everyone free postcards to keep in touch as we aim
to maintain contact with the outside world.
Zoom dinner parties, Facetiming relatives and Netflix parties are all
popular here until we can meet and gather once more.
